Drizzle Day and MariaDB day to end your MySQL user conference

Good news to all of you who are going or were thinking of going to the Percona Live MySQL Conference and Expo. Yesterday two great addon events were announced, both happening on Friday April 13th, right after the main conference:

Drizzle Day 2012

"Reflecting the fact that Drizzle 7 has now been out for a year, and Drizzle 7.1 will be released before the conference, the content for this Drizzle Day is geared more towards end users than before. Toward the end of the day we also have content that might interest potential contributors and you can end the day by talking to Drizzle developers who are happy to guide you in both using Drizzle as well as becoming an active community member."

With one speaker yet to be confirmed, it seems the core Drizzle devs are well represented at this event.

SkySQL & MariaDB: Solutions Day

"During this one day event, attendees will receive free, hands-on training on MySQL database solutions from the experts at SkySQL, MariaDB, Continuent, ScaleDB, Severalnines, Sphinx, and Webyog, among others. As well, SkySQL and MariaDB will bring industry visionaries, including Michael (Monty) Widenius and David Axmark, the original authors of the MySQL database, to share their insights on current and future trends pertaining to the world’s most popular open source database."

So a pretty solid program, and both are free (though for Drizzle Day you are encouraged to make a voluntary donation).

Note that also the main conference will have both Drizzle and MariaDB talks, plus all of these technologies will be represented in the Exhibition hall too. The Friday programs are not a re-run of the talks in the main conference, so make sure to catch both if you can.

I'm glad this is shaping up to be a really solid week of MySQL(-and-forks) content. Look forward to seeing everyone.
